Current laws
Pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 40 of 28 February 2021, as of 1 January 2022 all winter sports enthusiasts must observe supplementary safety measures
Insurance: Every single person on the slopes must have a liability insurance policy. If you already have a home insurance policy you do not require additional insurance as this will, in most cases, include skiing. If you have not already taken out liability insurance, you can purchase it following the QR-Code you find in any ski pass sales office or online before arrival at this link:
ITASnow: The quick and easy ski policy from ITAS Mutua that protects you from unforeseen events on the snow.
Please note that, if the police carry out checks, you must be able to prove that you have an insurance policy. No checks are carried out when purchasing ski passes.
Helmets are compulsory: Helmets must be worn when skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing for persons under the age of 18.
Alcohol on the slopes: Skiing while under the influence of alcohol is prohibited. Legal alcohol limits as stipulated by the Highway Code also apply to the slopes: in Italy, this is a maximum of 0.5 g alcohol per litre of blood.
